National Geographic’s Real-Life ‘Up’ House (2011)

“Inspired by Pixar’s animated film Up, National Geographic Channel and a team of scientists, engineers, and two world-class balloon pilots successfully launched a 16’ X 16’ house 18’ tall with 300 8’ colored weather balloons from a private airfield east of Los Angeles, and set a new world record for the largest balloon cluster flight ever attempted. The entire experimental aircraft was more than 10 stories high, reached an altitude of over 10,000 feet, and flew for approximately one hour.”

I love the back detail

DIY Free Pattern Shipwreck Shawl. Reblogged from someone else earlier, but I always wanted to show the different angles of this amazing scarf with 5000 optional Czech glass seed beads. Designed and modeled by Bethany Kok. Free Pattern with tons of advice from Knitty here ie placing of the beads, dyeing etc… *Not for the faint of heart.

On my knitting bucket list

I saw this and thought “Hey that looks like Old Town” and then felt entirely too pleased with myself when I clicked through and discovered it is, in fact, Old Town, from one of the less EPCOT-China-y parts.
